2006 Capanna Brunello di Montalcino
94 Points
Suggested Retail $55.99
"This is the finest wine I can remember tasting from Capanna in some time."
""Capanna's 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous, substantial wine endowed with tremendous purity in its dark red fruit. Smoke, tar, roses and licorice develop on the mid-palate, adding further complexity. The round, harmonious finish is equally impressive. This is a decidedly young, vibrant wine with a long, future ahead of it. The wine's sheer concentration and depth are remarkable. The Brunello was fermented in oak uprights, then spent 38 months in Slavonian oak casks of ranging from 10 to 25 hectoliters. This is the finest wine I can remember tasting from Capanna in some time." - May 2011

2009 Woop Woop Shiraz
#47 - Top 100 Best Buys
"Well- known Aussie winemaker Ben Riggs has crafted a dense, savory Shi- raz that sells for a bargain price. Notes of roasted meat, black olives, coffee and cinnamon rest on a foundation of mulberry fruit, with just the suggestion of dusty tannins on the finish. Drink now and over the next couple of years." - Novemeber 2011

2006 Clayhouse Vineyards Late Harvest Petite Sirah
Paso Robles, California
90 Points
Suggested Retail: $26.99 375ml
"Glass-staining purple. Seductively perfumed scents of ripe boysenberry, plum and incense. Lush, creamy dark berry flavors are given a bitter edge by cherry skin and anise. Quite sweet and jammy, with no rough edges and impressive finishing cling. There are plenty of table wines out there that are warmer and less elegant than this wine. These grapes were harvested at 28o Brix and the wine was bottled with 8% residual sugar." Nov/Dec 2008 |
